  Discussion on the main cause of poor performance in English as a second language in Kenyan context. Down the years, English language has not been performing too well compared to its sister subjects Kiswahili both when spoken out here officially and in national examination cases, though both of them are second languages learnt by most of the Kenya students and all the students in the public high schools in Kenya since it is compulsory.  English language has been performing poorly because of a number of reasons that have been affecting the students and sometimes the teachers.  Below is a discussion on those factors. A Marxist analysis of George Lamming's In the Castle of My Skin.
