GHANA MUST GO BY TAIYE SELASI ANALYSIS.

 Ghana must go is a common phrase  in Ghana and Nigeria in history where ghananians were deported from Nigeria after a presidential order in 1983. This was due to the fear that ghananians were taking over jobs and opportunities that Nigerians believed were supposed to be theirs. In the text, Kweku is fired from his job after a failed surgery which was not his fault, but since the hodpital’s authority felt that there should be someone to blame, they blamed Kweku. This made him abandon his family where he goes back to Ghana after living abroad for quite sometime. The time setting is intertwined between the colonial and post-colonial period. Kweku’s father is flogged by a white officer in public after he tried to defend his wife from harassment. In post-colonial period we can see that blacks are allowed to travel to different countries and also  start their own businesses. Kweku is among the lead surgeons in a hospital abroad.
